The Radio Sub-Committee was setup in response to many complaints from SEUNA
members about radio and TV reception, following SU's decision in 1984-85 to
allow both WAER and WJPZ to broadcast from Mount Olympus. The Sub-Committee
has guided SEUNA policy in relations with the Federal Communications
Commission. The upgrade in power from 3,000 to 50,000 watts in 1995 impacted
many more SEUNA residents, and the effects included cable, telephone,
computers, etc. - almost any electronic device - as well as radio. The FCC has
still to resolve formal complaints dating back to 1995.
The Sub-Committee is chaired by John Oldfield, who hopes to see its scope
extended to broader issues such as the City's Cable TV Franchise with
Time-Warner.
